Summer Lovin, Having a Blast

This is more of a photo dump of fun things we have been doing this summer so far! Zoo! Pools! Family time! (And my Aunt Leslie and her family stopped by to see us on the way home to Florida! That was a fun little visit!) Lots and lots of reading! Bailey finished the reading program at the library! She read 50 books! Each little goal she got something (a sticker, free Chipotle kids meal, free book, magnet, and lastly a medal). She is very proud of that medal πŸ˜‰ We also started a new program where we have a personal challenge to read 1001 books before Kindergarten. It comes with 10 worksheets with 100 stars per sheet to fill in per book, and we decided to get ice cream after each 100! We had one so far, and she is working her way to the second one! I am so happy she loves it πŸ™‚ It’s been so fun getting to know her interests and see her sense of humor. I have really been enjoying it so much.

It’s definitely hot!!!! Whew!! We are trying to keep cool and are just enjoying time as a family! Yay!

Thanksgiving and the Polar Express!

So the Bertoch’s have been busy the last little bit! So it has been sooooooooooo nice that Adam has been able to enjoy the Thanksgiving time with us as a family πŸ™‚ He was on call for his work, but other than that we were able to soak up every minute of his time…and believe me, we did! We love having Daddy home and to ourselves πŸ™‚

Adam’s cohort for school did a “Friendsgiving” last Sunday, so we all came together and had a pre turkey dinner meal. It was so much fun, and Bailey was definitely miss bell of the ball. As usual πŸ˜‰

IMG_3774 IMG_3776

And this year we stayed home in Lubbock and had our first Thanksgiving meal on our own! It actually turned out pretty freaking awesome haha. I made my first ever pie from scratch, which made me feel like Betty Crocker not gunna lie lol. I also made a few phone calls to my Momma to get some of her holidays recipes πŸ™‚ Luckily we were able to split it with Chris and Heather, so it didnt seem overwhelming and we were able to enjoy each others company and have yummy food (which could feed a small army btw). Poor Heather was sick, but she was a trooper!

Then today of course the weather decides to give us an ice storm. So it has been giving us freezing rain off and on today with ridiculously cold temps (for Texas at least!). We were watching it for a while and crossing our fingers that the roads would be safe because we had tickets to go to the Polar Express. Yup. You read that right. THE POLAR EXPRESS! Lubbock has a train station that does a full Polar Express adventure from the movie. It’s about an hour and a half train ride and they provide hot cocoa, a cookie, dancing/singing chefs, a jolly conductor, and a chance to meet santa and his elves and receive a ringing bell from his sleigh as the Christmas gift. IT WAS AMAZING! And magical! Bailey was so into everything and loved every second of it. She was even able to devour her own huge sugar cookie….that was fun…haha. She was so excited to see Santa and kept calling him when he was visiting the other kids in the cab haha. Everyone around her couldn’t help but feed off of her little Christmas spirit. It was so awesome. Totally worth it. It was the perfect ending to the Thanksgiving holiday πŸ™‚

IMG_3955 IMG_3852 IMG_3858 IMG_3864 IMG_3863 IMG_3857 IMG_3879 IMG_3881 IMG_3873 IMG_3871 IMG_3898 IMG_3905 IMG_3910 IMG_3912IMG_3913 IMG_3923 IMG_3922 IMG_3917 IMG_3925 IMG_3931 IMG_3932 IMG_3938 IMG_3930 IMG_3945 IMG_3947 IMG_3951 IMG_3958 IMG_3957 IMG_3956

Now we are relaxing and planing to enjoy the rest of our weekend indoors during the cold storms and squeeze every ounce of family time and cuddles in before Adam goes back to the real world on Monday. Next will be counting down the days until we have our Florida Christmas with my family for a reunion that is decades overdue I feel like! Yay! Many things to look forward too πŸ™‚ But right now I’m going to cuddle with my handsome hubby, drink hot cocoa, rewatch all of Bailey’s adorable videos from today, and savor Claire’s little kicks.

It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

So as much as I feel unprepared for Christmas this year – I feel like we just had Halloween!- things are finally starting to catch up! I made some cute homemade Christmas cards this year, so that was fun πŸ™‚ I only made a few though because they took alot more work than I thought! haha. I also wrote our Christmas letter for the year, which will be included in a later post πŸ™‚

We decorated the living room with the tree and all the extra pretty decorations a few weeks ago and it is gorgeous! I love when things are all put up and it just seems even more toasty and fun πŸ™‚ My mom got some santa sleighs made out of gingerbread cookies to build! They were adorable! Me, Danny, my Mom, and Adam all made one with our own little style and it was super cute. My mom didnt put enough frosting on hers though so it kind of fell apart as she was making it though. 😦 although to her defense…she was also busy making her famous delicious chocolate chip cookies at the same time.

Aj and my Dad were working on Aj’s eagle project. He is so close to being done! We are all so proud of him. Him and my dad have been two peas in a pod getting that taken care of. For his project he is implementing a neighborhood emergency plan for who is in dire need of medical attention first. Each home will get a packet of a cd with .pdfs of a safety briefing and helpful tools for food and supply storage, as well an assortment of different colored papers with words on them for immediate attention, no attention needed, death, etc. They then include a door hanger that they can hang the appropriate paper on the door if something happens. It is pretty genius! He turns 16 this Feb, and his goal was to get his eagle by the time he was 16, so it looks like he is completing that goal πŸ™‚ So proud.

This last week Adam and I attended a Child Prep class at the hospital where I am planning on delivering. It was an 8 hour class on Saturday so Adam was able to be there with me, and I am so glad he was! We learned so much about the pregnancy process and birth and what to expect and to look for etc. It brought us closer together too I think πŸ™‚ We learned relaxation techniques and things to help labor along and everything. I know it will still not be easy, but I feel so much more prepared. It is hard when I have no idea what to expect from my body, since it has never done this before lol. I know my mom had to have all c-sections, so I dont know. Knowledge is power though, so I know that with the things Adam and I have learned and are continually learning, we will get through no matter what happens πŸ™‚ We are in the process of making my birth plan, so it def makes it feel closer and closer! I love feeling her move around and kick inside me. Such a comforting feeling believe it or not. Haha at church yesterday we stayed for choir and she was kicking so much when she heard the men sing and when Adam said the prayer. She loves those deep voices, and her daddy’s voice for sure πŸ˜‰

I am excited for the upcoming holidays and spending time with family πŸ™‚ It is really a magical time of year πŸ™‚

Thanksgiving 2013!

Another Thanksgiving has come! Where has the time gone?! lol. We had a wonderful spread of food and I was surrounded by people I love πŸ™‚ Celine is in the MTC so we def missed her, plus we ate earlier in the day because Adam had to go to work, so I missed him too, but was so thankful we were able to eat early so he could enjoy it with us πŸ™‚ I cant wait for next year to have little Bailey at the table with us πŸ˜‰

Odds & Ends and Mayday Parade

So this is a bit of a miscellaneous blog post to cover some random moments I loved. Well, Halloween has passed and I bought a little skeleton shirt with a baby skeleton on it so that was cute πŸ™‚ I cant wait til we have our baby and halloween becomes fun again! haha.

I am starting to look like a preggo mama even more! Haha I have been living in hoodies, so it’s not always visible, but those moments I wear one of my t-shirts and the little belly is coming out πŸ™‚ It’s crazy to think there is a little person in there! Haha I am already having sleep issues though. I am a huge back sleeper, but when I sleep on my back it is so darn uncomfortable! I have to lay on my side with a pillow between my legs; preferably on my left side with my foot propped on Adam hahah. Thank goodness he goes to bed with my every night or I may never get the perfect rest! haha. I am only 4 months, so I am sure I have alot of fun things coming up in the preggo department haha. We have an apt next week to hopefully find out the gender…the only time in my life that I will want my child to bare it all! haha.

We finally got our windshield fixed on our Kia. It had the biggest crack almost all the way across the whole glass. We have been talking about getting it fixed for a while, but were trying to ride it out as long as we could….but then Adam and I visited Park City last Saturday up in the mountains and our windshield keep making cracking sounds from the pressure….that Monday we got it fixed haha. It is so nice to have our car back to its entirety! Haha.

Yesterday Aj, his friends, and I went to a Mayday Parade concert in Salt Lake. We had a good time πŸ™‚ It was in a glorified garage it seemed haha and there were people there that had my spidey senses on full gear! I was the oldest one in our group with these 15 year olds and I am 4 months pregnant! Haha. I chilled in the back by the merchandise, away from the thrashing chaos in the middle, and I had a good time πŸ™‚ Cartel and a couple other bands opened for them, and Mayday Parade was awesome and just as good live as their label. It was a long night and my body is pretty wrecked today from standing and jiving with music for like 4 hours haha but it was worth it πŸ™‚

Overall, just having a good time. Chugging along. My mom bought my first pack of diapers for me yesterday too. They are teeny tiny little snugglers with a space for the umbilical cord! How adorable!!! It’s going to be awesome having a third partner in crime to our little family πŸ™‚

July 4th 2013!

So this is our last 4th of July in Rexburg, and I must say….it was pretty awesome! We went to a BBQ at Ally and John’s house with some of their friends, and even the missionaries from next door came over to join in the awesome food. Celine came with us and it was nice to just be able to be with family on such a wonderful holiday of freedom πŸ™‚

Then Celine, Adam, and I stopped by Rigby on the way to Idaho Falls to see the firework show because we wanted to get a picture of Klub Karaoke. That is where Adam and I first met; it was a ward activity and he was the only one from his dorm who showed up, so Merinda and I hung out that whole time. We had to get a pic for the memories πŸ™‚

We killed some time by shopping at the mall and such….poor Adam and Celine were bored to tears while I ooh’ed and ahhh’ed at every shiny thing I could find haha. Then they scared the crap out of me with some creepy eye glasses!

Then we found an awesome parking spot and walked down the road for a yummy dinner and then just talked and enjoyed time with one another until the amazing firework show. I am glad Celine was able to come with us for our last year here πŸ™‚

Overall, a great 4th of July. I love our military and our freedom πŸ™‚

4th of July 2012!!

Independence Day!! This is our first 4th of July actually married! πŸ™‚ We had tons of fun!!

1. Walked in the parade with the Family Crisis Center to hand our fliers in support of their fight against domestic violence
2. Awesome BBQ at Ally and Johns. Little Brayden got so wore out! It was fun hanging with family for sure πŸ™‚
3. Chukars minor league baseball game! The Family Crisis Center gave Adam and I free tickets for helping them out. (We won too! It was fun…even though we were next to the loud people that only took one beer to be Β more than annoying haha)
4. Fireworks! No day is complete without some good fireworks, and Idaho Falls never disappoints πŸ™‚

I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday πŸ™‚

Texas Life :)

So the week in between the winter and spring semester at BYU-Idaho, Adam and I had the opportunity to fly down to Texas and spend time with his family and soak up the sun! It has been a blast! We leave tomorrow back for Rexburg to start school on Tuesday, but since we have been here we have had some fun adventures. πŸ™‚

We went to the Blue Bell ice cream factory and took a tour, which was super fun and it is definitely the best ice cream in America for sure! We also went to the beach (even though it ended up being super windy…and doesnt compare to Florida beaches haha) but it was still super fun, just hanging out and getting lost and such lol.

We did really good about going to the gym about every day, and man, the thicker weather sure makes running and catching your breath alot harder than I thought haha.

It has been so nice spending time with family and friends here and visiting Adam’s home. We had Easter egg time with my cute little nephew Marcus, had some pool and tanning time, and weΒ even got to test drive some cars with Austin and see some good movies. The options for food here is amazing, and I think I need to open up a Smoothie King in Idaho for sure! AdamΒ even spoiled me with some super yummy dates including Rudy’s BBQ, and my first ever hibachi grill experience! It was seriously so cool.

It has definitely been a fun break, and now to get ready for the next semester of more fun and school!!!

Update on Our Journey of Health!

So being that it is St. Patrick’s Day, we were going to do the Lucky Charm 5K at the school and dress up for it, but Adam got a sinus infection a couple days ago, poor hun 😦 But thankfully he is on the upswing, we just didn’t want him to be running outside in the rainy yucky weather today. Haha neither of us are really wearing green today now that I think of it (please no one pinch us! lol) BUT I did make broccoli and cheese for lunch…..so green is in our tummies-WIN!

I also found a really cool craft idea from pinterest to document our weight loss. I made weight loss marble jars! You put a pebble in the “weight lost” jar for every pound that you have lost, and take it from the “weight left” jar. Adam and I have one now!

Β The gold is the “weight lost” jar πŸ™‚

Β Adam’s Jar! He has lost 33 pounds so far!!! Way to go love!

Β My jars! I have lost 17 pounds! I am pretty much ready to maintain at this point, I just put a pebble or two so I can have the jar jingle! lol

It has been such an amazing experience getting healthy with my Adam. We eat tons of veggies and fruits and whole grains and we can tell such a difference in how we feel and our energy levels.

We shall continue on our journey and keep doing our best!

For those who want to lose a few pounds, trust me, all it takes is eating out less, more fresh food, and heading to the gym for even just 30 minutes. Anyone can do it! Start today!

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, My Husband is Sweet, And I love him too!

So this has been the best Valentines Day I have ever had, not gunna lie πŸ™‚ I have 7:45 classes that I wake up for at 7:10, and Adam secretly set his alarm to wake up 15 minutes before mine so that he could present me with breakfast in bed, and serenade me with a sweet song on the guitar. For someone who doesn’t have to wake up that early…that’s love! And not only that, but he went out early and dusted off my truck from snow and left me a love note in snow on his car πŸ™‚

Then when I get home from my classes for the day, I was surprised by the most beautiful arrangement of flowers and an “I love you” balloon and a nice sparkly “be mine” stand. The note on the arrangement of flowers made me sound like one big “awwwwwww” and I flooded him with a million Cassie kisses.

After the kisses we got ready and had a romantic lunch date at my favorite place ever-Olive Garden! We had the best splurging of amazing foods and cheesecakes and headed home to digest.

We had a nice long cuddle session πŸ˜‰ and then decided to go to this free fitness class on campus that was basically a kickboxing/circuit training class. It kicked out butts! Then we did a nice mile long walk on the indoor track just talking and enjoying eachothers company.

When arriving home, Adam let me have a chick flick night and we cuddled up and watched Fever Pitch. (I had to at least pick a movie that would have some boy comedy and not so much of the chick flicky part haha).

It was the best Valentines Day ever! Seriously, being married to Adam is the best you guys.
