Adam’s Rifle Training Course – Thunder Ranch

The day after Adam graduated, him and John traveled to Oregon for a rifle training course at Thunder Ranch 🙂 He was gone for 5 days and had an intense 3 day training. Adam learned how to clear rooms for safety, how to site in correctly, and hit things 1-200 yards away…3x times in a row! He has always been gifted when it comes to both pistols and rifles, but with this course and the pistol course he took a year and a half ago…it pretty much sealed the deal. I have no worries of safety in our home or anywhere else when Adam is around 🙂 He had a great time and is happy to have learned so many skills with his rifle…but I am def glad he is back home with me 😉

Chicks and Guns…

Haha okay, so maybe not the chicks you were thinking about…Adam is in a behavioral class for psychology. He gets to have chicks to train! He has to go into the lab and feed them everyday and teach them to do different things 🙂 They are adorable! Unfortunately, some of the little chicklets dont make it 😦 It breaks my heart!

We also have been doing some shooting lately 🙂 Adam got an AR-15, and it is pretty amazing. And it turns out I am much better with rifles than pistols haha. Adam of course is still the master of pretty much anything with a trigger…but it is nice to know I can work my way around 😉

Oh, and I also made a new craft! Yay! Haha it is called “I love you because..” board. I saw the idea on Pinterest and made it in my own way 🙂 It is on the door for Adam and I to write things we love about eachother everyday 🙂 Being married is amazing btw 🙂 (oh and Adam got me sparkly nail polish today…love that man!)

First “real” FHE – Hiking “R” Mountain

So Adam and I have been wanting to start having a “real” FHE on Mondays. For those that may not know, FHE stands for Family Home Evening, and it is normally on Monday nights and it is a time where a family will get together and have a lesson and activity and a good time. It is another opportunity to study and teach one another about the gospel in a family setting. It is really awesome. It has been harder for us to get in the habit because it is just us, but since we know we want to do it once we have our own family….best start now!

Anyways! So we decided that since the weather is going to only get colder, our best bet is to hike “R” mountain while we still can. I decided the lesson would then be on how exercising can not only help you physically, but also spiritually. We hiked up to the top and had our lesson and I made yummy molasses cookies to indulge in as well. It was a success!

Then on the way down the path I heard a rattling sound and couldnt figure out what it was…but Adam said it was a rattlesnake! Right next to me! So I jumped back as softly as I could, but it was blocking the path. So Adam took out his .45 (we had it in the backpack…just in case for such a time as these!) And he took one shot and blew its head off. My hero! It was seriously being hostile and scary! So I am glad Adam was able to take care of it. What an adventure! Hmm maybe next week I will have a lesson on being prepared……hahah.

It’s a Wonderful Life

Adam went to Texas this past week to go to a tactical pistol training course. He went to a place called Thunder Ranch and learned things like clearing rooms, stairways, hallways, and how to improve aim and trigger manipulation. I love seeing him get so excited and retain so much information. He gained so much knowledge! We went shooting today so he could show me some of the things he learned and he was hitting small targets around 50 yards away with just one bullet! Not to mention we put up a line of targets and he did some speed shooting and he hit every. single. one. I am so proud of my sexy protecting husband! I would pity anyone who tries to break into our home lol. Here are some pics from his trip 🙂

Since being home I have even tried some baking skills haha. I love to cook but have never been much of a baker…til now! lol I have been making some healthy things 🙂 I made whole wheat bread dough for pizza from scratch, whole wheat zucchini bread from scratch, and some avocado spread that was soo yummy! I love cooking and baking so much! Adam and I have been trying to be more healthy and we are still on our journey! We go to the gym everyday, we have a 5K next Saturday, and Adam and I have both dropped sizes in pants! It is such a cool experience to grow and get healthier together 🙂

It’s a wonderful life 🙂

Christmas, New Years, and the Fun in Between

So this Christmas break has been such an amazing one! We went to Texas and spent some good quality time with Adam and his family. They are so awesome. We were able to have everyone home for this Christmas. All the kids and their wives and children (and the ones along the way….Ally and Hill’s babies!) were all able to be there. We had many laughs and memories. We went to John’s house in Cameron on the farm and shot some pretty awesome guns, we put on our serious game faces and played many tournaments of Black Ops (yes…..I am now a Black Ops player….you can thank Adam and Austin….so much for life! hahah jk). We indulged in some amazing holiday goodies by Stacey and helped spread her holiday cheer with others with yummy deliveries 🙂 The girls all had a girls morning and we went and got a pedicure 🙂 Afterwards, I went to my first firing range and we all shot the new .22 pistols that the boys got for Christmas. Adam of course shot bulls eyes pretty much every shot, but I didnt do to bad either! I had a few that hit the bulls eye once I got my groove 🙂 The new Kinect game for the XBOX was something we were happy to partake in because it is so flippin fun! We played bowling and beach volleyball and tennis….right in the living room…and let me tell you…we were breaking a sweat! It was so wonderful to be around his family and spend some time with them. We love them so much. 🙂

Then we headed to my house in Utah for New Years! We had a blast! We have a tradition of Raclette and Fondue every year. Raclette is a European holiday meal where you gather with friends and family and leisurely eat some amazing cheese, bread, potatoes and prosciutto. In the middle of the table you have your raclette machine, which has a hot plate on the top to toast bread and such, and underneath is almost like a little oven type warming device where you put your plate of cheese underneath to melt and pour onto your potatoes. Raclette cheese is used because it melts and slides right off the tray and has the perfect blend of taste with your potatoes and prosciutto. It is such a fun tradition, and I cannot wait until we have our own raclette set up 🙂
Then we had fondue! We have two pots going, one with Swiss Fondue Cheese, and the other with melted Chocolate. We have a spread of bread, apples, and sometimes bananas. It is impossible to have just one bite…I promise…I’m living proof…(Half a loaf of bread later…haha jk) It is such a fun tradition as well, and we enjoy trying to not drop our bread or apples in the bottom of the pot.

Then we ended the night and started the new year in our hot tub with sparkling apple juice and family. Adam and I were able to kiss at midnight on new years for the first time and we talked about the upcoming year and all we hope to accomplish. I am so thankful for my friends and family and their love and support for us. This past year has been so amazing, and I cannot wait to start this new adventure in 2012 with the love of my life.
