Whew, we are done with Halloween! Bailey looooved it this year. She finally understood the concept of trick or treating, so she had a blast. Now she thinks that candy is called “trick or treat” haha. We had our ward fall festival that had tons of great food and games and a trunk or treat. It was so much fun! We were all dressed up in our Minnie costumes 🙂 Since Adam was with the youth, he was in charge of a couple of the games, so I took the girls and Bailey loved the cake walk. She was very diligent! She would not leave until she had a dang cupcake haha, finally one of the young women manning the station whispered to just call out the number that Bailey stopped on since she has been waiting patiently forever. Bailey was soooo happy when her number was called and picked out one of the biggest cupcakes of course 😉 Then we went on the hayride that one of the men in the ward was doing, and it was so fun! Haha Bailey, Claire, and I were hanging on for dear life since we were riding with most of the older kids. Bailey had a smile and white knuckles the whole time haha, I think she mainly felt pretty cool to be with the big kids 😉 Since I had the girls, and Adam had the games, we didnt have anyone to give out candy from our trunk, so we came home with a ton of candy haha. Bailey looooved trunk or treating though. She filled her little bucket pretty full. She was quite the sugar crazed kiddo going to bed that night 😉 For actual Halloween, we ended up just staying home to give away the candy we got for the trunk or treat. Both girls had slept rough the night before and Bailey had no idea what day it really was lol so Adam and I just cuddled up to a scary movie and enjoyed the different costumed kids of all ages who came to the door. Halloween 2016 was not too shabby 🙂
My life has been pretty busy too now that I have two little kiddos who can go in opposite directions haha. Claire is a crawling machine! The other day I put her in the living room with some toys to go to the bathroom real fast and when I was about to flush I see a cute little face pop around the corner and make a bee line right for me haha. So now I know just how long it takes for her to crawl to the bathroom from the living room. 😉
We have also been trying our best to incorporate scriptures more into our lives. Adam and I do our personal reading, but we felt that even though the girls were young, we needed to start the habit now for family reading, and Family Home Evening. (For those who are not familiar with Family Home Evening, or FHE, it is one night a week, usually Mondays, where families sit down together and have a gospel lesson with activities and songs and prayers 🙂 ) I wasn’t sure how to have an FHE with a toddler, until I stumbled upon a blog that gave awesome little short lessons just for little ones! (Here is her link: http://themamahoodblog.com/category/family-home-evening-lessons/ ) She should hopefully be adding more soon, but I have been in love with her lessons. We had our first one last Monday and it went better than I thought! It was short and sweet, but I could tell Bailey was loving it 🙂 It is amazing how much the spirit is in our home when we do these things together as a family. Every night we read scriptures from the little nursery book of mormon guide and then we make sure to kneel down and pray together as a family afterwards. It isn’t always smooth sailing believe me…. Bailey loves to hold the book and turn pages back and forth, and half the time is spent keeping it out of Claire’s hands haha but I know that even just by reading a few verses, it brings the spirit into our home. 🙂
Anyways, so now that Halloween is done, we get to chug along to more awesome holidays! We will be spending Thanksgiving with my family in Utah this year! Yay! The girls and I are coming up the week before, and then Adam will be meeting us for the last few days. I cant wait! My Mom is the only one of my family to have met Claire! So this trip is long overdue 🙂 I cannot wait. Flying by myself with both the girls will be an adventure…but with a straight flight, it cant be that bad 🙂 Plus Bailey is in love with planes, and I have heard “Go on a plane to see Nana?” 50 million times since I told her about a week ago haha so I am sure it will be fine 🙂
I am actually praying for a bit of snow while we are there….now before anyone who knows me has a heart attack because I just asked for snow…believe me. It’s for Bailey. Not me. Haha Bailey has been watching Mickey’s christmas specials for weeks now and wants to feel snow sooo bad. So I will put away my bah humbug for snow and pray for it for Bailey…for like…1 day while we are there haha.
These next few weeks are only going to get better and better with seeing family and getting into fun holiday traditions 🙂
P.S. So Stacey saved the day a couple weeks ago….Bailey stuck a little craft ball fluff up her nose. She would not let me get it! I was trying to hold her down and grab it and it was just not happening. I called the nurse hotline and they said to go to urgent care…but I was sooo not looking forward to spending hours in urgent care to grab a fluff ball from my daughters nose. I was on my way there when I felt a huge impression to stop and call Stacey and ask her to come over and help. So I turned around and she came right over, and within 5 minutes she had the ball out. Hallelujah! So grateful we live close enough for her to come and save me from a heinous urgent care visit 🙂 🙂 Oh and she came over one morning and planted flowers in our front yard with Bailey 🙂 Soo fun 🙂 I cant wait until they are in full bloom!
These are our Bits O’ Bertoch.
