So the Bertoch’s have been busy the last little bit! So it has been sooooooooooo nice that Adam has been able to enjoy the Thanksgiving time with us as a family π He was on call for his work, but other than that we were able to soak up every minute of his time…and believe me, we did! We love having Daddy home and to ourselves π
Adam’s cohort for school did a “Friendsgiving” last Sunday, so we all came together and had a pre turkey dinner meal. It was so much fun, and Bailey was definitely miss bell of the ball. As usual π
And this year we stayed home in Lubbock and had our first Thanksgiving meal on our own! It actually turned out pretty freaking awesome haha. I made my first ever pie from scratch, which made me feel like Betty Crocker not gunna lie lol. I also made a few phone calls to my Momma to get some of her holidays recipes π Luckily we were able to split it with Chris and Heather, so it didnt seem overwhelming and we were able to enjoy each others company and have yummy food (which could feed a small army btw). Poor Heather was sick, but she was a trooper!
Then today of course the weather decides to give us an ice storm. So it has been giving us freezing rain off and on today with ridiculously cold temps (for Texas at least!). We were watching it for a while and crossing our fingers that the roads would be safe because we had tickets to go to the Polar Express. Yup. You read that right. THE POLAR EXPRESS! Lubbock has a train station that does a full Polar Express adventure from the movie. It’s about an hour and a half train ride and they provide hot cocoa, a cookie, dancing/singing chefs, a jolly conductor, and a chance to meet santa and his elves and receive a ringing bell from his sleigh as the Christmas gift. IT WAS AMAZING! And magical! Bailey was so into everything and loved every second of it. She was even able to devour her own huge sugar cookie….that was fun…haha. She was so excited to see Santa and kept calling him when he was visiting the other kids in the cab haha. Everyone around her couldn’t help but feed off of her little Christmas spirit. It was so awesome. Totally worth it. It was the perfect ending to the Thanksgiving holiday π
Now we are relaxing and planing to enjoy the rest of our weekend indoors during the cold storms and squeeze every ounce of family time and cuddles in before Adam goes back to the real world on Monday. Next will be counting down the days until we have our Florida Christmas with my family for a reunion that is decades overdue I feel like! Yay! Many things to look forward too π But right now I’m going to cuddle with my handsome hubby, drink hot cocoa, rewatch all of Bailey’s adorable videos from today, and savor Claire’s little kicks.
These are our Bits O’ Bertoch.
