For Easter this year Adam and I were able to go visit with my family in Utah π I was lucky enough to be able to get off work early on Saturday and spend a little extra time than we had planned. It was a fun packed couple of days! We painted Easter eggs, had a good day at Church, searched for Easter eggs, and played a round of family hit and run. Hit and run has been a Legge family game since as far back as I can remember.
Here is how to play:
The batting order starts from youngest to oldest, so Danny would always go first, then Aj, Celine, Me (Cass) Mom, then Dad. Those of us that weren’t batting would be in the field. I usually took second base, Aj usually took first or short stop, Celine would usually play third, Dad would always pitch, and we would all switch out outfield as we needed to. When we were batting, we would get 2 warm up hits, then we would throw to first, second, third, and home (so four total hits of the ball in play) and then on the last hit we ran and the rest of us in the field would have to field the ball to try to get them out. Then the next person would be up to bat. It has been a family tradition and one of my absolute favorites. Danny is big enough now to not have to be protected behind the home plate fence π
I actually found some old pics of us playing hit and run in Verona in Italy as a family, plus a pic of us kids all decked out in our baseball gear quite a few years ago. Some things never change π
And now we have some pics of today with us all growing up and able to have the coolest team ever. (haha btw the one with no one in it, there is a shadow on the left…the sun was so bright that I couldnt tell that Adam wasnt in the picture…so that is poor adam’s picture haha.)
and here are the rest of the other festivities, including adam getting a huge cookie on the way to Utah haha.
These are our Bits O’ Bertoch.
