FHE – Stargazing Adventures

So last week we ended up being super busy and didnt have the chance to have Family Home Evening! So we made an extra effort this week. Since the weather is getting colder, we wanted to take advantage of the warmer fall temperatures while we still could. We packed up the back of my truck with tons of blankets and pillows and decided to go stargazing. We used to do this alot when we were dating and we would talk about life and it was some sweet memories. We initially went to an area that we have been to before…but we heard some coyotes howling….and that just freaked me out. How could I relax with howling going on? So we ended up going to the sand dunes (I rode in the back of the truck on the way cuz I had already climbed in and gotten all comfy). But Adam drove carefully and would warn me about railroad tracks and big bumps πŸ™‚ Haha on a side note….I feel like I have officially sealed Adam and I’s marriage. When we were at the scary howling place, I had to pee realllllly bad. So…with no choice other than maybe wetting my pants…I found a nice bush and relieved myself while Adam kept watch for any signs of life coming. Thank goodness for all those months perfecting a parallel squat! I didnt have any problems! Adam must stay with me forever now. πŸ˜‰

Once we got settled in at the dunes and got all comfy in the back of the truck, we had a lesson πŸ™‚ I read the General Conference talk given by President Uchtdorf in Oct 2010 called “Of Things That Matter Most.” Here is the link if anyone wants to read it:Β http://www.lds.org/general-conference/2010/10/of-things-that-matter-most?lang=eng

I love it because it talks about slowing life down and enjoying it. Not over-scheduling everything in your life…which is def what I feel like I have a problem with! It just seemed so fitting while we were enjoying the outdoors together without any electronics to get in the way. Then I had made a cute handout that has a scripture on it talking about the beauty of the earth and how we should enjoy it as well. I made oatmeal chocolate chip butterscotch cookies for dessert πŸ™‚ I did something different with them though, I used a mini muffin pan and baked the cookie dough in it. It made fluffy cookies that looked like muffins but were a cookie. It tripped our brains out but they were so delicious! Haha. It was a great night though. I cherish those moments where Adam and I can take time to just be with eachother without school worries or job searching and everything taking up our mind. I love my hubby πŸ™‚
