End of Semester Eve

So on this night before the very last day of the semester, I thought I would give some updates on what’s kinda been going on.

-The obvious…the end of the semester. Finals week has been a hard one for Adam and Ally, but I know that they are ready to be done. Next up will be John and I heading to classes next semester lol.

-I got offered a more permanent job at the Standard Journal. I am now an Advertising/Administrative Assistant.

-Our ‘journey of health’ is coming along really well. We still enjoy going to the gym pretty much everyday. So far Adam has lost around 8 pounds and I have lost around 6. It feels good to be getting healthy and seeing results. It has def been a lifestyle change that we have embraced. We dont feel like we are really missing out on anything either. We feel stronger everyday and plan to continue the journey. I have some sports conditioning classes next semester and I want to be as ready as I can.

-We will be heading to Texas for Christmas. It will be nice to be visiting Adam’s family down there. I love them so much! It is hard being so far away sometimes. I am so blessed to have my family near so I can visit them whenever I want in Utah. This will be a very amazing holiday break, with Christmas in Texas, and New Years in Utah. We will be surrounded by family 🙂

Nile’s Mission Farewell Party!

So for those of you who dont know, Nile is going to Tokyo Japan on her mission! She leaves December 28 for a year and a half. However, she will be giving her farewell talk and leaving after everyone is already out of school and doing their own thing, so I wanted to throw her a little party with her friends here so everyone can show their support for her going because we are all so proud!!!

The night before Ally came over to help me decorate the cake (I am not much of a baker) and it was so fun! We had a great time. The cake took a million years to cook though because I had such a deep dish….and then the middle caved in a little bit….then my middle red circle didnt seem much like a circle….but in the end everything worked out!! We did the flag of Japan 🙂 It is a Super Moist Devil’s Cake withVanilla Frosting and White Chocolate Chips. We food colored the red frosting and put some sprinkles on it and kept it in the fridge overnight.

The party was fun! The next night we had Merinda, Adam and I, and Nile and her friends: Jenny, Yesenia, and Kiersten. We were laughing and talking the whole time. It was so nice to be able to get together and support Nile and show her how much we loved her. Oh and everyone loved the cake….I was so relieved! haha.
Good luck Nile! We love you!

It’s a Magical Time of Year…

I love Christmas! It is probably my favorite holiday because of the huge build up of holiday spirit everyone gets into! Ally, John, Adam, and I went to see the BYU-Idaho Christmas Concert at the new BYU-I Center and it was amazing. It had the University choir and band play all sorts of beautiful Christmas tunes. Then as a guest performer, Brian Stokes Mitchell sang. His voice gave us all goosebumps, it was so amazing. He was a broadway singer and sang in the Prince of Egypt. He gave his own rendition of Christmas songs and it was wonderful. Perfect start of our Christmas countdown for sure 🙂

My Mom also made me the most adorable advent calendar that counts down the days of Christmas with an activity. It is so fun. One was to learn a new Christmas song on an instrument, and Adam and I ended up singing and playing guitar for a couple hours one night. It really does get us in the holiday spirit.

As we continue our Christmas countdown, I hope we all remember those who are missing their loved ones at this time, I think love and service would be the most comforting thing we can give, it is what the Lord would want 🙂

Who else is doing a countdown calendar? Any cool ideas you guys are doing??

P.S. I have been doing some renovations on my site. All of the photography pages under the photography tab are now seen more as thumbnails that can be clicked on. It makes scrolling down less of a hassle. In fact, I just added a new photo that Adam did in the unedited photos section.
I also added an additional page under places called Temples. Check it out 🙂

The $5 Christmas Cheer!

Haha okay okay so maybe not miracle, but I gotta admit, today we got a cool little surprise. In the mail I got this advertisement from the Smith Chevrolet dealership saying I was a winner. Normally I would think it’s just a scam, but there was a scratch off on it that matched the winning numbers…it was too much curiosity for me. Adam and I went there (after getting lost for like a half hour because of my stupid GPS and me not listening to Adam when he knew where it was) and they told us that we did actually win! A gift card to Walmart!……for $5. Haha at first Adam and I cracked jokes about what we were going to do with $5…but then we had a great idea! Christmas lights! We went to Walmart and they were on sale for only 3 bucks! It was so pretty! We werent even going to decorate anything this year because we are going to be in Texas, but we couldnt pass this up. Then my brilliant husband had the idea to put green sticky notes on our light outside and it turned it a very nice Christmasy green! I love my husband and his amazing ideas 🙂
Thank you Smith Chevrolet….for the $5 gift of Christmas cheer. 😉
