The Most Thankful Day Ever–Thanksgiving!

This year was Adam and I’s first thanksgiving being together 🙂 A year ago around thanksgiving we kissed for the first time and started dating. We decided to visit my family in Utah for this wonderful holiday. (I just couldnt resist my Mom’s cooking!) It was wonderful. We had food galore and many laughs. We spent some quality family time, and I was thankful for that for sure. It has been the first time in a while we were able to stay longer than a day and a half.

It was also awesome because we got to see some friends! Adam has some friends who live in Utah. We had lunch with Jake and Megan Hortin and their adorable new baby Austin at this amazing Italian Pizzeria. That place was pretty legit. It was so fun meeting up with them and sharing some laughs and stories.

Then we went to the Gateway Mall in Salt Lake and I showed Adam all of the best stores to go in…(hint hint…haha jk) and we had a great time just walking hand in hand throughout the area while people scramble for more deals. Then we went and saw Mark and Chelsea Wilson at the Cheesecake Factory. I was converted this time. That was the best cheesecake ever!! I love hanging out with them, always full of laughs and memories for sure.

The break was just much needed and well worth it. Spending time with family and friends…what else could you ask for??

I hope everyone had an amazing thanksgiving. (Christmas in Texas is around the corner! Yay!)

Adam’s Ice Skating Conversion

So we are out of school and work for the Thanksgiving break! Yay! Adam and I are visiting my family in Utah. Today we decided to go ice skating in Bountiful. Now, Adam has only been ice skating one other time in his whole time (I took him to the one on campus, but it was outside and the rink was not taken care of and…well…kind of a traumatic experience for him….) So he was not exactly jumping for joy at the idea of getting back out there on the ice, with only blades as feet. It started out a little scary, hugging more near the wall. But after retying the shoelaces tighter (his strength helps make them extra tight thank goodness…he had to tighten mine too haha) then he was doing alot better! By the time we left he was out there skating his little heart out! It was still a bit nerve wracking trying to stop once he got started (warning for anyone who was in front of him) but he was doing so good! I was sooooo proud of him! I know how iffy he is with ice being from Houston, but he got out there and kicked some ice! Plus, I love to ice skate, so him liking it more is definitely in my favor 😉

Sunday Walks

One thing Adam and I have started recently are Sunday walks. After church we will head to a park or some place that has a walking road or trail where we can just hold hands and have a good time. Last week we went to this place called Porter Park when it was darker and sang Christmas carols the whole time. It was fun! Today we went to the duck pond and walked around the whole outside of it, noticing the little details of things and talking about life. It is fun for Adam and I to just have us time. We can talk about anything. I love it. I look forward to it every Sunday 🙂

On our walk today 🙂 Yesterday Adam bought me that super cute hat so I would actually do something to keep warm in the winter hahah he knows me.

Journey of Health

So Adam and I have decided to start going to the gym. I am strengthening my ankle, and we are getting healthy! Yay! It’s so nice going together, it really helps to keep us accountable and motivated. We have a motivational board in our bedroom. I have my favorite pair of pants hanging up that I want to fit into better, and Adam has one of his belts up with the belt loop he wants to fit in. So we are on this journey of health together! I will post an update in a month or two to see if we can see results…right now we are in week one…the hardest hahah. Wish us luck!

Feeding Ducks and Eating Turkey

So it finally happened. Rexburg finally had a blizzard here that stuck. (Much to Adam and John’s happiness….while Ally and I groan). We went out driving in it for fun, got a shovel for our sidewalk, and then went and fed the duckies! There is what we like to call “The Duck Pond,” yeah, original haha, but it has a big lake and tons of duckies that love to be fed. Adam and I normally wait until we have heels left in our loaves of bread so we can feed them. They are sometimes overwhelming! They were walking their little feet all over my boots though, and it was pretty darn cute. Until I realized I had a huge one behind me that had teeth! I didnt even know until Adam told me… It was scary!

Then later we went to the ward thanksgiving dinner and talent show. Ally and John came with us and we had a good time with some good food (I loved the turkey and the deserts!). It was pretty scary singing in front of everyone….there were like a bagillion people there, but it was fun 🙂 I had Adam by my side the whole time… It was all good 🙂

Picnics, Parks, and Everything Nice

So one thing Adam and I love to do is have a picnic at a cute park. Yesterday was a beautiful day and so after our classes and duties of the day, we packed a lunch (hot dogs and snackies) and went to the nearest park that was just finished. We had the whole park to ourself in the sunshine and ate at the pavillion where there were picnic tables and tons of space. Naturally, after eating we decided to play at the park because…well…without little kids to run and trip over, we were allowed to have fun too. lol. Then afterwards we went for a nice drive, and stopped at a park we normally went to when we were dating because it was so cute and in the middle of no where. We couldn’t help but take pics of our escapade. It was a fun little lunch date at the park. We took some pics 🙂

And that’s not all, after having dinner with Ally and John (it was really fun socializing with them for a couple hours 🙂 ) Adam and I practiced the Christmas song we are singing at the church talent show tomorrow. Adam will be playing guitar while I sing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” It got us in the Christmas spirit for sure, so we put on Josh Groban’s Christmas album and slow danced in the kitchen. It was pretty much the sweetest thing ever, and put us in the happiest, warm cheesiest mood.  Then we cuddled up in bed and watched episodes of “Chopped” from the food channel. Oh how my husband completes me.

25 Reasons Why Being Married is the Best

So I know I have mentioned that I love being married, and my blog talks about our life, but I want to dedicate this post mainly about the being married part that is so totally awesome. I dont want to make the single people feel bad, because I have sooooo been there, hating and loving anything about marriage at the same time. But dont worry, this will just give you something to look forward to and not to believe the seemingly more negative comments in the media about marriage.

25 Reasons Why Being Married is the Best:

1. I never have to go to bed alone.
2. I  get to have a permanent partner when I play mario karts on the wii.
3. Adam still kisses me in the morning before I have even become presentable.
4. We get to have our own apartment together and be alone instead of suffering through certain roommates we wouldnt have chosen.
5. I get to have my own kitchen and get to decide where everything is!
6. I no longer have to put in a maintenance report for leaking faucets or internet issues…I just ask Adam!
7. Adam keeps me from buying things I dont need.
8. I keep Adam from buying things he doesnt need.
9. We get to go grocery shopping together.
10. All of our holidays are spent together, no more separation during thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.
11. We can go for a drive in the middle of the night if we are bored…just because we can.
12. When I have a nightmare, or I am grinding my teeth at night pretty bad, Adam puts his arms around me and calms me down…even while I am asleep. (Sometimes I even saw “awww” in my sleep…hahah wow can you tell I am a romantic? lol)
13. We save water when we shower now.
14.  We have a white erase board that we use for lists and other things we need, except it turns into a love board, writing little notes to eachother.
15. At the end of the day from classes and work, we always end up home together.
16. Adam loves to vacuum, and that’s the only thing I have a hard time with, we make a good cleaning pair. (He also does the dishes alot when I cook! Keeper!)
17. We dont have to worry about weird looks when we smack eachother’s butt’s in passing, or leaving a room.
18. We can play our music in peace without roommates being annoying about it. (They just don’t understand our musical fusion haha)
19. Having a ring on your finger allows you to kiss in public and get an “aww they are a cute married couple,” and not an “I cant believe they are kissing in public, those heathens.” haha only in Idaho.
20. I don’t have to worry about not having a date on the weekends because I have a perma date with my hubby every day of the week!
21. The church ward no longer pushes for people to “mingle,” because we are already hitched.
22. I don’t have to worry about all of my embarrassing photos or videos anymore, because Adam is already stuck with me!
23. I get to have satisfaction when I run into people who are ridiculously marriage hungry (in a very unhealthy and annoying way) and tell them I am married and that I didn’t even have to look for Adam.
24. I have someone who has to listen to my day and all my random thoughts and love them no matter what hahah. It is just nice knowing I have a best friend who I am in love with and who is with me forever.
25. I get to kiss him anytime I want…. -Sweet Home Alabama

Well there you have it. I could have posted many more, but I will spare those who have acid re-flux. 😉

Hodge Podge

So I couldnt decide on one topic for this post….so that is why it’s called Hodge Podge haha.

I kinda wanted to make this sort of a catch up blog on our life so far:

-My ankle is starting to heal and I have been going to the gym and doing some physical therapy for it to strengthen it. I sometimes work it too hard, but I just want it to get better dang it!
-We celebrated Halloween with Ally and John and had some chili, movies, and a very….interesting cake. Haha it was a disaster, but oh so delicious! The cake was crumbling when we tried to frost it and the fondant would not cooperate…so we just ate it as it was and made it into a pacman cake hahah we were laughing so hard. It was a fun night…even though only like 2 trick or treaters came to the door. They looked so cute! Adam wouldnt let me take one home haha.
-My internship has about a month left. I am a Multi-Media Assistant with the Rexburg Standard Journal. I love the opportunity I have, but I have a hard time staying busy haha, which makes me organize and plan. I have never been so organized in my life.
-I registered for classes today for next semester. I am almost there! Only next semester and the summer session and I am done 🙂
-Adam has his car in the shop for his door to get fixed. The door check somehow lost a bolt and made a little crack and keeps making a sound, so we are getting that welded and fixed this week, so we are using my truck alot more.
-The birth control shot must has been a different brand than I normally get because I am super emotional lately! Like sheesh! I even took a pregnancy test to make sure it wasnt that, but nope…a huge dose of hormones that are still regulating. Please hang in there with me Adam!
-We had a snow storm this past weekend. I am not a huge snow person. I lived in Alaska, and that was enough for me, but John and Adam are super excited for the snow. All I can think of are cold hands, wet pants and socks, and chapped noses from the cold wind. Haha needless to say, I am glad it melted so far. Please stay a little longer Fall!
-Adam got a 100% on his philosophy test! I am so proud of him! He is so smart, it blows my mind. I know he is happy to be off-track next semester though, between his philosophy class and behavioral neurobiology class…his brain pretty much is mush every night haha.
-We went to Utah this past weekend, and it is always nice being with family 🙂

Well, this is my hodge podge post. I didnt feel like I had anything super exciting this week that deserved a blog to itself….so consider this a hybrid haha.

P.S. Adam thinks more people like snow, and I beg to differ, so take our poll to help us see who wins!

Pillow Talk

Dont sit there pretending you dont know what I am talking about…it is only the most amazing thing on the entire planet! I LOVE pillow talk!

Pillow talk, for those who may not know, is where you stay up late talking about anything and everything. Stupid things sound smart, smart things dont make sense, and things that normally wouldnt be funny are now the most hilarious thing you have ever heard. It is where secrets are shared, giggle fits occur, and friendships are sealed.

I have always been a huge fan of pillow talk, obviously haha but when I think about it, I have certain people in mind. I would like to give a shout out to them in order.

I have had pillow talk starting way back with my little sister Celine 🙂 I remember nights as kids when her and I would sneak into eachothers’ rooms to have ‘girl talk’. Every weekend she would sleep in my bed with me and we would talk late into the night. Sometimes I would prank and scare her….but she still loves me 😉

Me and Beans (Celine)

 sleeping at birch lake.

haha this picture just makes me laugh. You can tell we are related because we did not plan that face. We were both just reacting.

Then I got to college and had roommates. I had Nile as a roommate my freshmen year, and I cannot tell you how many nights we would say we are going to bed…only to jump into our bunk beds so we can have pillow talk. Sometimes it would even be until 3 in the morning! Just talking about life or funny things that have happened. We would have really good advice sessions where we would talk about our lives and about the church and deep discussions about it.  I have very fond memories of bunk bed pillow talk with nile. 🙂

Me and Nile

Nile and I heading back from Utah

Our freshmen year…there was a certain fellow that we would give looks to hahah. BTW that was indeed a peanut butter twix in my hand. Only the best twix ever. Just sayin.

Merinda and I

Then Merinda became my roommate and we had tons of pillow talks as well! Since we werent in bunk beds anymore, we would sometimes end up sleeping in the same twin bed….yes twin bed. Hahaha. I remember endless nights of nothing but wheezing and giggling. We would have serious talks as well about life and what we interpreted certain gospel principles to be and such. Pillow talk with Merinda was super duper fun too 🙂

Just us being goofy before heading out somewhere.

Haha I know this picture is probably hideous but I love it because it is super late and we were just talking and listening to music….til I whipped out my photobooth to capture our death looking moment haha.

And last but not least…Adam and I

As I have gotten married, I now have my husband to have pillow talk with, and it’s the best 🙂 We cuddle and talk about anything and everything. Sometimes we get really silly and just giggle about dumb things. We like to talk about our future and what our kids will be like and where we will live once we are out of school and such. Other times we will talk about aspects of when we were dating and what we were really thinking in some situations haha. I love pillow talk with my wonderful husband  and cannot wait for the bagillion more nights of it 🙂

When we were dating we would always have nerf fights in our apartment.

We were at a drive in movie..and ever so happy.

There you have it. My evolution of pillow talk…chronologically haha. I think it is good for the soul (spongebob reference) to have someone you can have pillow talk with, because it really is the best thing ever.
